Jesus decoded

This site, supported by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, explains some of the Church’s teaching about Jesus, as opposed to those suggested in Dan Brown’s The DaVinci Code. Most people read the book as an exciting thriller, but I guess some take it more literally (given Brown’s own statement that much of it is “true.”

When I read the book, I had trouble with the “back story” about secret societies and the great “secret” of Jesus’ marriage to Mary Magdelene. However, I enjoyed the puzzle parts and the excitement of the chase. Now we know that the Priory of Sion is a hoax, and most of what Brown cites as “fact” is little more than creative speculation. Anyway, I will probably see the movie shortly to see Ron Howard’s take on the subject. So far, I haven’t felt the need to examine the Gnostic gospels, but that may come later.
