Bruce Springsteen can’t sing

Bruce Springsteen can’t sing. He’s right up there, maybe ahead of, Yoko Ono on the list of people who got the furthest with the least talent.

In Bruce’s case, however, I give him credit; whereas I disparage Yoko. Bruce is more like a special Olympian working hard to overcome his handicap to win the quarter mile. And, as far as I know from his TV persona, he’s a good guy. He seems to be loyal to his band and his neighborhood and his “art.”

So hat’s off to “The Boss.” I find it hard to believe you’re a rock icon, but I’m still impressed. You might even be better than Mick Jagger.

You must be crazy.

Bruce CAN sing and he’s awesome at it. And his song writing and band are awesome too. Please reconsider. You may not like him, but you’ve got to respect the guy and realize he’s got exceptional talent. Go see him at Giants stadium and see what you think.

I saw him in concert last September here in Chicago. I was in the absolute last row of the United Center (a place not known as a good concert venue). I was blown away - the talent, sound, skill, energy, emotion, all of it was excellent. It’s probably in my top 3 or 4 concerts all time (along with U2, Rush last year, and Siagon Kick in 92). Just kidding about Siagon Kick.

Here it is basically. In 1999, I was at some restaurant in Jacksonville with the middle school volleyball team that I coached and their parents. We were celebrating our conference championship. It was rather boring. On the speaker came Bruce’s Thunder Road. It spoke to me. I remember it like it was today. (there are other live versions, him playing guitar & harmonica, or piano. Also a Tim Russert tribute).

Have a listen to the lyrics of his songs. (now, some songs aren’t the best, but that’s true of everyone, Beatles too). And here’s Born to Run.
