The Montauk Monster
We all love monster stories, don’t we? This monster/hoax washed up on Montauk Long Island last month and has spurred a great deal of speculation about what it is.

Naturally, the poor dead creature has disappeared, so further scientific analysis is not possible. Even the origin of the picture (I haven’t read all of this stuff) seems to be clouded in one of those “I got it from a guy who got it from his brother-in-law’s landlord’s daughter…” stories. Also, without any identifying characteristics, the picture could have been taken anywhere and doctored extensively. I don’t know if it’s real, but I kind of like the sea-turtle without-it’s-shell theory.
